Nervous Tissue

Location: the nervous system.

Function: the basic function of nervous tissue is to send and receive nerve impulses to and from neurons, muscle fibers, glands, and other internal and external organs.

Two Cell Types:

  1. Neurons-consist of a cell body, axon, and dendrites.
  2. Neuroglia-cells that nourish and protect neurons. These cells also remove cellular debris when neurons die.
